A New Beginning

A New Beginning
In the beginning, there was a land created of deep turquoise waters, soft white sand, thick green forests filled with other life forms, and a brilliant light that glowed throughout the sphere. King Appomattox ruled the land, with his beautiful queen, Mirabella. It was a joyous time of dancing, singing, laughing, with precious gems sprinkled all over nature’s dark rich carpet. The gems danced and sparkled in the sunlight; however, these precious jewels weren’t placed here by accident. These gemstones were a test created by the king to see how faithful and pure his humans really were. If someone were to covet and lust after them, they would be destroyed. In fact, they would be vaporized in an instant.
As centuries went by, the people remained as faithful as they were in the beginning. This was also the time when Gemma, the princess of the creations, was born. Once Gemma turned thirteen, the humans became wicked, wanting the carnal things of the land. First they started using the natural resources for their personal gain, but then they decided that it all wasn’t enough for them. Ultimately, this led them to lust after the jewels. They adorned their necks, wrists, hands and clothing with the precious stones that were scattered about the globe. However, Gemma knew that the people’s ways were wrong, and turned away from the worldly temptations that filled every other person’s heart. Her faithfulness made her parents very happy, and grateful that they didn’t have to destroy their beloved princess.
In the end, the king destroyed every human that ever lusted after the jewels, and had to destroy all of his creations since it all was contaminated from the wicked desires of the people. However, because the king and queen demolished their land, they lost their authority to create new life and land. Gemma was the only one that acquired this power.
The space about the royal family was dark. There was a lifeless silence. Nothing remained of the land, except for the gems that sparkled no more. How could someone fall into temptation for such plain and dull stones? They weren’t anything special without their twinkling glow.
As the family sat in silence for many months, mourning for the loss of their land and their people, Gemma knew that she was the only one that could create life again. Determined to be surrounded by life, and have the warm celestial light once more, she sorted the lifeless stones by color. Gemma began smashing the rocks together, creating small particles of yellow, blue, green, red, and other colors. To create the sun, she danced and twirled and flew the tiny dull pieces of amber into the space above her, which created the sun. She could now see where else she could restore life. Next, she sprinkled the emeralds and sapphires to make fresh blades of grass and trees, water and sky. The other stones she used for the flowers, animals, insects, and other creations. Lastly, she saved the diamonds to shape and refine her most complicated creation—the humans. She wanted them to be made out of the strongest jewel because not only did she want them to be the dominant creature of the globe, but she never wanted to see her people be destroyed again.
